Thymus

Snowdonia

 Next page

In the summer of 2000 we collected thyme in Snowdonia with a permit from The Countryside Council for Wales.  Snowdonia thyme has adapted to wet conditions and grows in shallow soil often less than an inch deep, either in or close to running water.  As the saying goes, do not try this at home!

We found a great deal of variation both in leaf hairiness and in flower colour and there are some very beautiful plants amongst them.  Permission has been given for these thymes to be propagated on condition that the identities of the locations are not disclosed.  These thymes have been given names and are now available in small quantities.
